Two Tee Shots; green is down the fairway to the left. Photo by Frank Messina at Mt. Hood Golf Course, Melrose, MA |
September 27, 2013 - Believe it ? Anyone could have placed these balls down and said they ended up on the fairway like this from the tee box. But I got this photo directly from Frank on the day he hit the shot. The excitement he expressed as he went for his phone to share the photo was pure golf magic. I loved being in that space with him.
It's a good story actually. Hardworking, busy guy who hasn't taken time off to play golf in forever...Friend calls him at the last minute and tells him they're going to play golf - won't take no for an answer. Beautiful day and golf spontaneously creates a moment in history. How many times do you think this has ever happened ? I say not too many.
It's one of things that I think every golfer, whether they realize or not, loves about golf. Every single shot holds the possibility for something magical to happen. The tragedy is that so many golfers tend to focus on the bad shots. Just the shift of energy in the last two sentences is amazing. Writing about the possibilities in golf and then shifting the focus to the negative was profound for me when I read it back. Wow...Such a clear demonstration of how what you think about effects your experience of something - even just reading about it....
So, on that note, I'd like to welcome you to my new Wicked Easy Golf blog. I'm excited to have a space to write about my experiences on the golf course and hopefully inspire you to take a new approach to your golf game. Thanks for reading and please keep coming back...Jayn
