Wicked Easy Golf Networking Event

Yesterday I had the pleasure of playing 9 holes with Ceri Ruenheck, owner of It's Your Call, where she provides business to business outbound telemarketing services.  On my way to the course, I was thinking that I've been chatting with Ceri at networking events for several years now, but I wasn't exactly clear about what her business is about.  Our time together on the course (followed by lunch) gave me the chance to really get to know her and to gain a clearer understanding of the value she provides to her clients.  It made me realize that Wicked Easy Golf Networking is really a good idea !!!   I knew that WEG Networking had potential conceptually, but yesterday just fully demonstrated the benefit of having that much time together on the golf course.  It gave us the opportunity to get personal and learn about each other in a way that would never occur in two hours at your average networking event.  I enjoyed it so much and am looking forward to the up-coming event on the South Shore, which I'm co-planning with Lisa Akoury-Ross of SDPPublishing Solutions  (details to follow).   Thanks for a great afternoon Ceri.  Looking forward to our next outing...

Practice

Practice...So essential in golf.   But how do you find the time to fit it in ?      Golf, like many things in life, takes time, energy (and money.)  I've written about putting indoors throughout the winter, but it's really easy to get some putting practice in during the summer.  Just keep your clubs in the trunk of your car and anytime you find yourself in the vicinity of a public golf course with a few minutes to spare, stop and putt (and maybe even chip) for a few minutes.  It's a great stress-reliever in the middle of a busy day.
But here's my favorite practice tip:  For anyone who has either a backyard or a backyard deck, simply keep a spare club nearby so that you can practice your swing (as opposed to making a trip to the driving range to hit balls).   When I'm just swinging the club and not thinking about hitting a ball, I'm able to focus more on the fundamentals of my swing.  If you have a way to elevate yourself off the ground (a deck, swimming pool, etc.), you don't have to think about hitting the ground and can just swing away AND when I swing off a deck or even better, a swimming pool, I become extremely aware of my balance-it's an awesome way to gain some awareness of what's going on in my swing, especially my follow-thru/finish.   I try to grab any opportunity I can get to put a golf club into my hands and feel that sweet rhythm of my golf swing.   Try it and email me at Jayn@WickedEasyGolf.com to let me know your thoughts.
Hope you're enjoying this great summer we're having,  Jayn

Boston Women Connect partners with Wicked Easy Golf to offer weekly networking events

One of the best things about summer in New England is how the pace slows down and our focus shifts away from business for just a bit.   Many of us take the opportunity to ease off of work, even in the smallest ways.  But we need to keep networking, and the most effective networking - the kind where you really get to spend quality time with a potential contact - well, that's what Wicked Easy Golf Networking is all about.
In cooperation with Boston Women Connect, Jayn Krasco Stillson of Wicked Easy Golf is pleased to announce a unique networking opportunity:  nine holes of golf on Thursday mornings, followed by lunch.  Sign up is week-to-week, so you can play as much as every week or as little as once over the entire summer.  We'll play Mt. Hood in Melrose unless another option presents itself.  Although there may be resistance to playing golf during the workday, this is an opportunity to take a little time away from your day-to-day business obligations to build relationships on the golf course.   Because Wicked Easy Golf Networking doesn't require you to commit to a weekly event for the entire golf season, you can sign up to play only when your schedule is less hectic and, there are no league fees as you'll pay the course directly for your golf and lunch.   Also, Boston Women Connect members will receive 50% off Wicked Easy Golf coaching fees on Thursdays.
Open to golfers of all skill levels, we'll play the "Wicked Easy Golf" format where players won't count their total strokes.  However, just for fun, within each foursome we'll compete for longest drive on one hole; closest to the pin on a par 3; and lowest total putts for the round ($1.00 for each paid to the winner at the end of the round).   By not keeping score, players may "play the shot you wish you had" and move your ball to optimal positions.  If a player chooses to keep score, your ball must be picked up at double par, or you may opt out of the competition entirely if you choose.   This format eliminates any pressure to perform on the course and encourages each player to relax, have fun and enjoy the company of your fellow golfers.
To participate or to simply be placed on the email list to be kept informed, please contact Jayn at 781-665-0895, by email at Jayn@WickedEasyGolf.com or go to www.Jaynyk.com/wicked-easy-golf-networking-signup to be added to the email list.

April 13, 2015 - Ok ladies, here we go...Golf Season 2015.

I almost cannot bear to admit that I never made it out onto the golf course last season, so I was excited to get outside and swing a club yesterday.  Man-o-man am I stiff.  But...what I find myself thinking about is how important it is to ease your way back out on to the course after this long, hard winter.  We had such a beautiful weekend here in Boston, and I imagine the golf courses and even the driving ranges were bustling.

I've been preparing for that first swing for a couple of weeks.  I've been down on the floor stretching and swinging an imaginary club inside the house.  A couple of weeks ago while the weather was still nasty, I stopped in my local golf shop and swung a club in their simulator.  (I didn't even attempt to hit a ball - I just swung the club.)  And even those first swings yesterday were few, simple and easy.  I like to stand on my back deck, allowing the club head to hang over the edge so that I don't have to think about the ground.  At this point in the season, I don't try to swing away;  I'm simply trying to stretch out my back and shoulder muscles with a slow, easy motion.  I loved just the simplicity of having the club in my hands again, and I will gradually find my way back to my natural swing over the next couple of weeks..

I encourage you not to wait until you're able to get out onto the course to start your golf fitness routine.  Start now and your early rounds will be wicked easy !
